Ron Sepe- Gala is scheduled for March 19,2022 from 6pm to 11pm.
He stated that right now we are at 400 people, but we can go another 25-30 people.
There’s a change in entertainment, we now have a DJ. Also let me know about your seating
arrangements. All board members should arrive by 5 PM for group photos. Doctor Miglietta will not be
accepting his award because he is out of the country.
Pat DeFrancisci will donate a flag for the Gala.
Bill – as for our scholarships, we will be naming two of the scholarships after Nat and John.
Bill stated we were served with a lawsuit suing us for copyright infringements. Our lawyer is reviewing
the matter and is in contact with the appropriate groups.
Summer Picnic – Right now members don’t pay. Vinny Nardone suggested a change of location, perhaps
in North Brunswick where they have a place to cook 4 pools, and mini golf. Currently our picnic costs us
$8,000 a year and we can charge approximately $20 per person. This will be discussed further at another
date. Sebbie D’Amato suggested Great Wolf Lodge for the picnic; he will get us prices. Pat D suggested
summers are tough due to vacation and he stated to perhaps pass on the picnic this year and save the
$8,000.
Ron Sepe stated to expand on bocce ball nights, everyone should bring their own food and beverages
and save money for the club.
John Marcelli – stated that he likes to have the picnic but perhaps change the location. It gives back to
our organization. Perhaps we can run a corn-hole tournament and incorporate this with the picnic.
Joe Simonetti – agrees with Vinny, have it at a facility where can pay people to cook and we can charge
people to come in.
Bill – spoke about pasta night. Food donations come from mom-and-pop stores. We lost our sausage
contact. Billy stated that he would like to do a beef steak dinner and have it at the Brownstone or at the
Parsippany PBA hall.
Bill also discussed changing the amount of funds that the IAPSNJ can provide to Special Olympics. Based
on the reduction of fund-raising during pandemic there was a suggestion that the organization remain a
“Turn Sponsor” at the LETR SONJ Golf Tournament. Vincent Nardone stated that he wanted to also pay
for the toys and giveaways for the SONJ Summer Games LE Tent. After a discussion it was agreed that
the organization would create an event on a yearly basis OTHER than the ones discussed to raise these
funds. The Board voted unanimously to agree to this.
The cigar night will be held in September for the 6 scholarships and we will have a beef steak dinner in
the spring time to benefit our organization.
Joe Simonetti – we should take care of the golf outing then go to SONJ in Trenton and help give out the
medals and awards.
Vincent Picarelli – suggested to put together a social to raise for SONJ. We will do a pub night May 2 nd
from 6-10 at Frenchy’s in Roselle Park.
Sebbie D- states that dues are now being collected and can have a credit card on file to renew the dues
Bill S – NYPD is looking to do a 9 day trip to Italy in 2023. The maximum people that can go is 20 people;
we will visit the Vatican and southern Italy.
John Marcelli – stated Alex Lesniak has a son who is special needs and wrote a book “The Adventures of
Muffin Man.” We should plan at having his son at our main meeting for a book signing and place his
name in an ad for the Gala.
Anthony Lacorazza – is asking for help September 25, 2022 to help with the run/walk Tower to the
Tunnel event. Perhaps we can have members participate; registration is about $50 per person.
Meeting was adjourned. Our next meeting is May 23, 2022 at Mario’s in Union, NJ.
