Union Police Department (Ret.)

Anthony Cavallo started his law enforcement career as a Police Officer at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. In 2004, Cavallo transferred to serve as a Police Officer in the Township of Union Police Department. Cavallo quickly established himself as a tenacious officer with a reputation for building bridges in the community. Cavallo was transferred to the Traffic Unit as a Motorcycle Police Officer where he enforced laws and assisted in VIP escorts and details.  Cavallo was often known for stopping to visit with local children while on patrol on his motorcycle to boost the image of police. In 2017, Cavallo was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In this role, Cavallo supervised police officers and was respected and admired by his subordinates and peers. In 2020, Cavallo retired from the Township of Union Police Department.

Cavallo is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for constantly going above and beyond the call of duty. Cavallo was the recipient of the prestigious Union County 200 Club Valor Award for rescuing the life of a motorist trapped under an overturned vehicle that was on fire.  Cavallo has been involved in many local organizations and charitable endeavors over the years. Cavallo has been a proud member of the Italian American Police Society of New Jersey for years and has served on its Executive Board for the past few years. He has been an integral part of its Big Brothers and Big Sisters of NJ Christmas Toy Drive and The organization’s Special Olympics participation.  Recently he has helped spearhead the organization’s efforts to provide healthy hot gourmet meals and supplies for Healthcare Heroes in hospitals and front line workers. Cavallo also serves as the President for the Garden State Ryderz Motorcycle Club.  This organization raises money for charities such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Care Foundation, Special Olympics NJ and veterans groups.  Cavallo enjoys participating in Operation Rebound which helps veterans return to the community and flourish.

Cavallo is happily married to his wife Dora, a school principal for 30 years. They have two beautiful children, Anthony who is 28 and Gabriella who is 25.  Cavallo resides in Union County and enjoys family activities and his Italian heritage.
