So sad to learn of the passing of Vincenzo Martino the owner of Martino’s in Hackensack. This Italian eatery has been popular with Italian Americans in the region for years . Vincenzo proudly rode on our Italian American Police Society of NJ Parade Float in the NYC Columbus Day Parade.
Rest In Peace my friend. You always be remember and loved.

I am absolutely crushed to learn of the passing of Signore Vincenzo Martino. I met Signore a few years back and we became fast friends. Every time I would walk into his restaurant, Martino’s Market in #HackensackNJ, I would be greeted by a warm embrace and a kiss on both cheeks. We would spend some time talking. I would practice my Italian when we were together. He would tell me stories about being stationed in my family’s town of #Capizzi (Sicily) when he was in the military. He would make sure you were well feed & happy. He would always say, “Everything ok?”. Everything was always okay when I was at Martino’s. It was like I was in my grandparents’ kitchen. He was also a man of strong faith and deep devotion, especially to Madonna delle Grazie, the Patroness of his hometown of Alia (Provincia di #Palermo) in Sicily. I am going to sorely miss Signore Martino. As I write this I feel the tears welling up and I have an urge to cry both tears of grief, but also tears of joy because I had the opportunity however brief of knowing Signore Martino. Ti amiamo e ci mancherai moltissimo!! Riposa in pace, mio amico!!
