We are a social, fraternal
organization of more than 4,500 Italian American Law Enforcement Officers
in the state of New Jersey. We promote our Italian
heritage through helping the community as well as all law enforcement officers
and their families.

In the Spring we hold our Annual
Scholarship Breakfast where we present 10 $1000 memorial
scholarships in memory of Italian American Police Officers that lost their
lives in the line of duty. Also at this event we present awards to
members for valor, meritorious service and heroism.

Also in the Spring we hold our Annual Benefit
Dinner Dance. This event is a gala event win which we honor some
of New Jersey's Leaders in Entertainment, Business, Medicine, Religion,
and other professions.

We kick off the summer with our Annual
Night at the Races at the Meadowlands Racetrack. This
is a great family night out. We picnic in a private picnic area of
the park with a great view of the races from right at the rail. At
this event we give away 2 police bullet-proof vests to members who do not
receive one from their department.

Columbus Day is celebrated in a big
way by the IAPSNJ. The society makes a large showing in the New York City
parade with our brothers & sisters on the NYPD Columbia Association.
The society as a professional float and color guard and looks very sharp
on TV.

Christmas Time
is another time of the year we strive to make better for the unfortunate.
During the Christmas holiday season,
the society hosts a Christmas / Holiday party for the Big Brothers &
Sisters of New Jersey. Santa
is present to distribute toys to these needy children. We also escort
Mr
& Mrs Santa Claus to homeless shelters to distribute more
than six truck loads of toys. To collect toys and raise money for
this event we hold a Hair-Cut-A-Thon
in November.

The society's founder and president, William
Schievella is Deputy Chief of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office,
and resides in Morris County. The current executive board contains
members from 21 different agencies from all over New Jersey. We hold
meetings
monthly in different parts of the state.

In addition to these events the society has
Legal
Counsel, a Blood Bank, an expert Stress Counselor
and much more. Also the society has a partnership with Caldwell College
to help police officers obtain a bachelors degree in criminal justice without
attending classes. With this cooperative program society members get special
prices and credit waivers from the college.

The society is a charter member of the National
Coalition of Italian American Law Enforcement Associations which links
Italian American police officers in New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia,
Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Florida to have their
voices heard in Washington D.C..
